Why mindfulness is essential for lasting change

Many people see mindfulness as a few minutes sitting peacefully, a nice extra if you happen to have the time.

 However, practising mindfulness is perhaps better seen as a kind of workout. Done regularly it gives you the 'muscle' to deal with everything life has to throw at you, and to make positive and permanent changes to your brain.
