Call for beta readers: ADHD fantasy novel
Welcome!
I’m Adva Shaviv, and in the coming months I'll need beta-readers for ADventures Heading up and Down, my ADHD cozy contemporary portal fantasy, consisting of about 80,000 words (around 280 pages).
I plan to have several rounds of beta-reading, of which I'll update by email to those who sign up using the form below.
Were you ever taken hostage by imagination?
Society is cutting off the wings of Tom, Alice and George, three turbulent siblings. On their quest to find their own path they find themselves in an ADHD wonderland, turning their own and others’ worlds upside down. They confront vicious stairs, a train of thoughts derailed, tissue paper babies, and even cake.
References to Mom keep coming up, but she couldn’t have had anything to do with it. Could she? And where are their cats and dogs?
No squirrels were harmed in the making of this book.

Are you otherwise experienced in the writing/ publishing industry?
For instance, are you a writer? An editor? I’d love to hear what it is you write/ edit/ anything else you do in relation to writing or publishing. Ideally, I'd love a mix of professional and non-professional readers.
What sort of books do you enjoy reading?
I'm hoping for a mixed group of readers. Please state if you usually read specific genres or sub-genres (specifically fantasy, but other genres as well), and any other preferences you have (e.g., a preference for books with LGBTQ+ main characters, books targeting a "Young Adult" audience, certain tropes, plotlines, themes, mood, writing style, even short vs. long books, or any preference you have.)

What is an "ADHD cozy contemporary portal fantasy"?
My novel is a fantasy, taking place in an imaginary world inspired by ADHD. A portal connects this fantastic world and our own contemporary world, so the plot moves between the two. It makes for a cozy read, where feel-good and the magical rule, rather than epic battles.
What are beta-readers?
These are the first readers of a novel's advanced draft, who give the author (me!) their honest feedback, thus influence the final novel by helping revise where needed. Of course, they also eventually get the final ebook as a gift, once it's published!
NOTE: I will not be able to reciprocate, and thus am only looking for beta readers, rather than critique partners/ swaps.

What is required of you?
To carefully read the whole thing and send me back detailed feedback based on my guiding questions, chapter by chapter. Preferably, within 3-4 weeks.
What sort of feedback will you be asked to give?
All your thoughts about the book! What you think works and what doesn't; what you like and what you don't, in terms of worldbuilding, plot, characters and everything you care about as a reader. Also, pointing out mistakes like plot holes or inconsistencies, which I may miss, being too close to the text.
