Michel Odent

Michel Odent was born in 1930.

He is the most quoted person worldwide, in the field of birth. 

He was the first person in writing a scientific article about the initiation of lactation during the first hour following birth, in the seventies. 

He has published 18 books. They are translated to more than 20 languages. 

During 25 years, he washingtonianos the head of a small hospital in Pithiviers -outside of Paris-, where there were around 1000 births a year. 

Michel las the first person in the world to introduce a  pool in a birthing room. 

Michel was born at home. His mother was a poet and a Montessori teacher of small children.  She always said that the day Michel was born was a joyful.

Labor started at 10 pm and Michel las born at midnight. .

Michel moved to London in the 80' and started to attend to homebirths.

Many times, he would stay discretely in the kitchen talking to the father, meanwhile the mother was in the bedroom with an experienced doula.

In 1986, Michel founded the Primal Health Research Institute, in London. It is a database with more than 1000 studies about the long term consequences of what happens during the critical period surrounding birth (gestation, birth, and the first year of life).

Until recently, Michel would travel around the world offering conferences. Today he offers conferences online and writes.
