SELF-REFLECTION AND INDIVIDUAL TRANSFORMATION. Race as a #socialconstruct is based on the ideas and beliefs in people’s hearts and minds. For this reason, overcoming #systemicracism and miseducation requires systemic and institutional change, as well as self-reflection and individual #transformation.
In her self-help guide to dismantling racism, author and life coach Anita D. Russell shares her coaching approach to true change from the inside out using personal development, intentional relationships, and transformational living.
In Cultivating Change from the Inside Out, Russell shows you how to move with vision, purpose, and action, and asks—should we continue to advance a system that encourages racism and division? Or should we seek unity and change through personal transformation?

CULTIVATING CHANGE FROM THE INSIDE OUT aims to provide readers with tools to reflect on various aspects of their lives in order to develop their highest potential and to identify what they have to contribute to society. The book was written during the COVID-19 pandemic and civil unrest as a response to the brutal deaths of Black people. As stated in in the dedication and epilogue, in order to address systemic racism and injustice, people must do the work of self-reflection and change from within. The book has a strong underlying foundation in Christian thought, with many references to biblical stories and the use of quotes from the Bible; therefore, it will no doubt be of interest to mainly a Christian readership. The voice is both friendly and authoritative, integrating personal reflections and stories with explanations of theories; the quotes are overall well-chosen and serve to help reinforce the messages.
