DEVELOPING LEADERSHIP SKILLS IN TEENAGERS THROUGH TASK-BASED LEARNING - TBL.
Based on on the example of the “English for Leaders” course at the Ukrainian Leadership Academy

Yana is a founder of the EVER Group of Companies created to provide multi-pronged language services in Ukraine (EverEnglish, EverSpanish, EverTeach Training Centre, EverTranslation). She is a CELTA/DELTA (M2) certified language instructor. Yana is an author of the course "English for Leaders" in partnership with the Ukrainian Leadership Academy and DoS of English at ULA. She is the author of "Anglokonstruktor", a handbook of interactive grammar. She was a participant of ELT IH Barcelona ELT conference on February 7-8, 2020, a speaker at CAMP LEAD, EdCamp Ukraine, IATEFL Ukraine Conference, etc. In 2021, Yana launched a YouTube channel #мета_мільйон created particularly for the Ukrainian audience to raise awareness of the importance of learning English through edutainment.
English is no longer an object of study but a tool designed to communicate deeper senses. During the war in Ukraine, the need for leadership among young people increased exponentially and English can reinforce the implementation of these changes. Rimma is one of the top Ukrainian experts and practitioners in teaching English to Young Learners. With a 17-year experience in teaching her professionalism expands over several areas including CLIL, Whole Brain Teaching and Exam preparation. Rimma worked her way up from a public-school teacher to found her own Mrs. Buchok’s Language Centre. Rimma is a certified professional: CELT-P, TKT. She is passionate about helping her students learn language by implementing strategies that her students need to succeed.
After two years of pandemic working online and offline, we keep doing our job – teaching students and supporting them in each and every step, even if it’s a war outside the window. There are several basic moments which each teacher should keep in mind while doing their job and one of them is social and emotional wellbeing of students. Inna is a self-employed online tutor of English and a teacher blogger. After working as a university instructor for 16 years she went on to pursue her own professional dreams. Today she teaches adults, conducts workshops for colleagues, and speaks at various events for teachers.
Embarking on a career as a freelance teacher can prove to be a challenge regardless of your previous experience. In this session, I’m going to reflect on my way and the pitfalls I had to deal with. All the five tips I’m to reveal in my presentation are based on the steps I took and everything that prompted me to do so.

Maryna has been working in ELT since 1999. She is a CELTA trainer, a CELT-P/S trainer, a teacher of English and an international speaking examiner. Maryna has taught students of different ages and levels in absolutely various contexts: from kindergarten to corporate business classes. She also devoted 10 years to teaching in the state school.
Having been a novice teacher, I was quite dependent on printed materials and prepared a lot of extra handouts for each lesson. As a result, in class we jumped from one exercise to another. However, now my attitude is a bit different and I try to make as much use of the material as possible. At the session I’ll show you how to exploit reading and grammar tasks more.

Liliia is an English language instructor with over 7 years of experience in teaching and CELTA & IHCYLT qualifications. She currently teaches English for Academic Purposes at Al-Asala Colleges in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. Her professional interests include material development, teacher training as well as writing an Instagram blog about teaching & language learning.
The presentation will focus on fun alternative tasks for matching/definition exercises. Matching tasks are quite common and thus students might at times get bored. Liliia will share some interesting activities that might be done with students in class instead of another “match the word/phrase and its definition” exercise.

Nataliya has been involved in teacher-training since 1993. Being an active conference-goer, materials-writer and workshops-conductor, national and international conferences presenter, she is a devoted member of different professional organizations IATEFL, TESOL, “SUTO” Professional Council of Educators, Tutor’s Club. Back in 2000 she founded the Agency of Foreign Languages ‘RUNA’® with a multi-dimensional activity profile. For more than 10 years the agency functions as an Authorised Exams Centre Cambridge Assessment English in Ukraine- UA011. N. Dyachuk holds Cambridge CPE, CELTA and Teacher Trainer certificates. She successfully completed International IELTS Instructor Course as well as all TKT Modules’ courses including CLIL, organized by ‘SR –Teaching and Learning’. Her scientific attention ranges from EFL methodology, media methodology, media pedagogy, study of aphoristic utterances to materials development on the basis of authentic resources. The newest realm of her interests rests now in the sphere of neurolanguage coaching.
In the course of this presentation we shall make an attempt to explore our personal professional planets, examine teachers as individuals, touch upon the teacher-learner rapport, highlight that penetrating issues that stimulate a process of learning in the minds of both an educator and a student, question the complications all face in the course of study. The foreseen result we view in letting everyone give themselves open-ended answers that would stimulate the process of further cross-examination of professional development as growth, not repair.

Olga is a CELTA certified English teacher- blogger, Udemy instructor-creator, International IELTS instructor, a host of Teachers Sharing Interviews on the teach.love.earn YouTube channel.
Olga has been in ELT since 2008, having worked at state schools, private English schools, Kyiv University of Market Relations and its college. Since 2020 Olga’s switched to online teaching and has been teaching Business English, preparing Ss for job interviews and exams. In 2020 Olga posted her first course on the Udemy platform, and continues working on her third course so far. Additionally Olga’s exploring the benefits of YouTube, creating content in the ELT area. Olga is a regional representative of SR Teaching&Learning in Poland.
As during peaceful life, and unfortunately as in an example of recent dreadful events, we see the proof of a vital need of having a good financial safety net for everyone. During my session I’d like to introduce you to the ways of passive income in ELT: an education platform I’ve created 2 courses on. As well as I will provide you with a different perspective on YouTube platform, my view on how we can benefit from it to become competitive and well-demanded professionals among potential students. And I’d like to give you an idea on my personal understanding of the ‘’new’’ old trend for the ELT future - here read “what our students really want but we don’t give them”. HOW TO BE FLEXIBLE IN THE CLASSROOM AND ACT ON THE SPOT

Kristina is a teacher (CELTA and Delta certified) and a teacher trainer. She's been teaching for more than 12 years. Kristina used to be a DoS at one of the most popular schools in Kyiv. Now she's more than proud to be the DoS at EverEnglish and the head of EverTeach project. She has taken part in a number of ELT Conferences (both international and Ukrainian ones). One of her favourite ones has been an annual IH conference in Barcelona. Kristina's motto is 'teaching is sharing', meaning it's all about knowledge and energy exchange with learners and with teachers as well. Kristina is a huge fan of Dogme approach and is happy to be keeping in touch with its author Scott Thornbury.

POKA-YOKE IN ELT

Viktoriia is an EFL teacher who has worked with various age groups and levels, speakers of different languages, catering to the needs of students from all walks of life. She now only works with adults, mainly with higher levels. Many of her students are teachers and she also runs regular methodology workshops for English teachers. Among her ELT passions are material development and lexical journals.
Poka-yoke is a mistake-proofing method used in manufacturing and other spheres of life. It can also be applied to teaching English as a foreign language and go by the name backward planning, or backward design. In this talk, you will find out how you can apply it at the lesson, unit, and course levels in order to achieve tangible results and reduce stress.
