FOREIGN INVESTOR INTEREST IN CANADIAN SECURITIES REBOUNDS – LATEST DATA FROM STATISTICS CANADA
Statistics Canada reported that foreign investors resumed their acquisitions of Canadian securities in July, following significant divestments in June, mainly targeting debt securities issued by Canadian private corporations. At the same time, Canadian investors resumed their acquisitions of foreign securities, led by acquisitions of U.S. government bonds. Since the beginning of the year, Canadian purchases of U.S. government bonds totalled $13.3 billion.
