The Joyful and Free story actually begins before a business was ever thought of. Well, actually, that’s not true. At the time, Kayla was creating magazines and newsletters to encourage her peers with, but only on a small scale on the floor of her high school home bedroom.

After enduring trauma from mental, emotional, and verbal abuse from a boyfriend, Kayla’s world seemed to fall apart. Constantly searching for what it meant to be a Christian, and finding where Jesus was in the midst of her questions and struggles, she pressed into the Word of God.

After high school, she worked as a graphic designer at local print shops until she and her husband had their first baby. She then began working from home and rand a successful photography business for 5 years, a design and print business, and eventually co-founded a magazine with a fellow blogging friend.

All this time, Kayla was pressing into Jesus, searching for her identity and worth from Him and who He created her to be.
In her searching, she ended up writing her devotional journal, Fall Into His Love, and creating the topical verse studies that you find sprinkled through this booklet.

She knew that she would never fully be who God intended her to be without looking to Scripture for that fulfillment.

Several months after the launch of the magazine, Kayla experienced a great breakthrough in her mental health at a youth retreat she and her husband were chaperoning.

It was at this time that she found she was being set on a path of healing and freedom from the trauma and mental troubles she had been experiencing for over 13 years.

She realized that she needed to step away from the magazine, but didn’t entirely want to quit creating studies, and encouraging young women (high school through early adulthood) in their walk with Jesus.

As she prayed and pressed into the direction God would have her take, the Joyful & Free Print and Paperie began to unfold and blossom.

The vision and mission were born, and the print shop took off!
