The vision of all African missionaries is to see a healthy church within walking distance of every African. The National Church here in Guinea has a vision to plant 500 new churches. They have identifies the first 54 locations currently in need of a Tabernacle, all of which are in the interior of the country. We are raising funds for both the Tabernacles and the land to put them on. You can partner with us and the Guinean people through your prayers and giving. You can donate by clicking on the photo to the right. Just enter your donation amount then click Advanced Options and type "Tabernacles or Land" in the comments.
As new churches are planted, it's important to have well trained pastors ready to lead them. Teaching and mentoring young pastors and lay leaders is another primary focus of our ministry and a great joy for us as well. The Guinea Bible college is less than an hour from our home. We are partnering with them to support their current teaching, and we are also working to create a church planting program for the future.
One of the biggest ministries in West Africa is ministering to children. Currently 44% of the population in Guinea is under the age of 15. One Hope is a ministry that allows us to go into the local schools and spread the Good News of the Gospel through short skits and other unique methods. The Guinean National Church also has created a Children's ministry department and Cyndi has been invited to help with planning and training.
French is the most widely spoken universal language in West Africa, and we spent 10 months last term learning to speak basic French. Now we are going deeper, and working on our fluency and confidence for preaching and teaching. There are also many local languages we are learning the greetings for. The most common are Pulaar and Maninka (this is very close do Mandinka which we learned in The Gambia).
Abigail is dual enrolled in TCK International Academy and Nelson University. Abigail loves helping in children's ministry, leading worship and even building tabs. We love seeing how God is using her and we are enjoying every moment we have with her until she launches into her adulting phase.
Speed the Light is an amazing ministry where the youth of our home district partner with us on the field. Because of their generosity, we were able to purchase a vehicle as soon as we arrived in Guinea. God provided us with a lead on this vehicle before we even arrived in country and because we had the funds, we were able to purchase it and have all the paperwork done within the first week. It is an unbelievable blessing to have our own vehicle to navigate life and ministry. We have already been able to help other missions as they have arrived, and we have been able to visit several pastors and church sites here. We are traveling far and wide because we have the vehicle to do it. Thank you to every youth pastor and student who invests in this ministry.
