A food journal is the best way to keep track of the foods you eat and how much you eat. It will also guide you n terms of the foods you are lacking in your diet.
In order to change your eating habits, you need to understand your eating patterns.
Include as much information about your meals as possible. What did you eat? Where you ate it (dining tables, couch,etc.) Measure (cup, handful, etc).
It also helps to write down how you felt after eating your meal or how a type of food made you feel. There is n emotional attachment to food which can shed light on why our eating patterns are the way they are.
