MY FAVOURITE WAY TO TEACH WRITING

As a class teacher, I tried many ways methods of teaching my children how to be more engaging writers. By far, the best approach was teacher modelling. Unfortunately it was the method that required the most effort and time input from me. But it worked!

Here is a random picture downloaded from Pixabay. I just typed in weird pictures and scanned through for a few minutes. You will always find something cool as a writing stimulus.

Don't overthink it! Just give out the prompt, sit there and write with the kids. Then show them your work afterwards and read it to them and explain your writing choices. Then listen to theirs. They pick up so much from this and WILL use the techniques you discuss in future story writing activities.
