In the worlds of Fannie Lou Hamer, “are you sick and tired of being sick and tired?"

I know right now you are sick of always having to be ready! I know you’re exhausted from carrying the world's expectations on your shoulders! I know how frustrating it is to be the one to figure it out! I understand what it’s like to dream of crying and being protected on every level while doing so, but the tears hardly come. Why? Because internally — most likely in silence — a colonized voice tells us, “girl, get yourself to together!

By the time you get to the bottom of this page, you’ll learn that I — and a licensed Trauma-Based Therapist — will help you do three things in the BlackWomenImagined Membership Space: (1) embrace vulnerability, (2) create balance, and (3) prioritize self-hood!

The problem is, the persona of the SBW is a survival practice Black Women created due to the dangers of colonialism. Black women haven’t experienced the protection we're worthy of since our ancestors were brought to this country. Consequently, our grandmother, mothers, and fathers! taught us and expected us to be SBW to survive.

In other words, the dangers of colonialism made the persona of the SBW necessary! We were socialized — groomed — to be SBW!

You don’t have to live in the SBW persona forever. You can RE-imagine yourself outside this socialization by (1) embracing vulnerability, (2) creating balance and (3) prioritizing selfhood. We accomplish this goal as sisters, as a community by decolonizing — understanding the ways we’ve been colonized (stripped of our humanity, indigenous self, awareness and knowledge. As we slowly religious colonized notions , consequently, we begin to be un-socialized. Meaning we loose the practices influenced by colonized thoughts. As this occurs, we have more space to operate in our divinity and higher levels of consciousness to RE-imagine and — as EbonyJanice states, “dream ourselves free.”

a little about me!

I remember when I prayed to be the real me. I had no idea who that was and I’m still figuring it out. But at least I know my authentic elements such as, I’m a sweet girl and I don’t have to hide it with ‘being tough.’ I know I am worthy, which I didn’t believe before due to religiosity. I now know I have the ability to think positively instead of being negative nancy. I was SO pessimistic to keep myself from disappointment, which encouraged independence when I needed INTER-dependence.

So, the breakthrough is: I’m doing the work with joy, rest, ease while doing my best to practice self-vulnerability, balance, and center myself! I embodied RE-Imagining, and as a result, I was able to identify practices that didn’t align with my freedom. I had space to remember that I am human!

And I realized more Black Women struggling with the persona of the Strong Black Woman need space to RE-imagine themselves.

So, I created the BlackWomenReimagined 12-month membership program!

Here are testimonials from other healing spaces I’ve held:

how will we accomplish the goal of Re-Imagining?

Beloved — my Black Queen who has always been divine — if you don’t think the persona of the SBW is dangerous, or unhealthy, or traumatic, this program isn’t for, right now! Perhaps we can work together when you discover how and why the SBW persona doesn’t benefit/serve Black women. Many black women discover how traumatic the SBW persona is when their health starts to decline. So, even if you’re just curious about the SBW persona, it’s worth investing in. There’s always gentle healing work that can be done, even if we don't know what it is!
