Regulating the Nervous System
Saturday, 4/6
Kundalini Yoga is known as the “Yoga of Awareness.” Its practice rebuilds and strengthens the nervous system which has been weakened by substances, stress and other addictions.
The practice gives you back your own strength and “grit” providing discipline, and the experience of self renewal.
Meditation trains the mind to focus, concentrate and relieve chronic stress and nervous tension. Daily practice brings about a positive self-image, self-reliance and enhances a greater awareness or consciousness and awakens our intuitive sensitivity with nerves of steel. The discipline allows you to deal with obstacles in life that seem insurmountable. This is crucial in rebuilding a strong nervous system to remain calm and peaceful in a situation that may be conflicted and non supportive.
Learning to incorporate the breath is effective to deep breath our way through a conflict or highly emotional situation and fnd peace within. This is essential in overcoming behavioral addictions.
Trauma Healing
Thursday 4/18
The intensity of the pain is unbearable - emotional responses that no one understands - people think one is over reacting.
Just fit in, numb the pain, cover the wound. Pretend it's not there, use drugs, and that works........ for now! But it doesn't let the wound heal.
Part of the healing is to recognize how that sensitivty and the intensity of emotions that come with it is not a fault in your personality - it is a reaction to the past trauma - and healing happens best when we're safe to open things up and look at what we're dealing with.
It is not your fault. It was never your fault. You just happened to be there.
Let the wound help us understand how past trauma can increase sensitivity years later. The wound may be psychological and people around us have no idea they just touched an old wound.
Its understandable we work to hide them or numb the pain that they can trigger. But the price we pay is high in our relationships, mental and physical health and abilty to be at peace when all is still and silent. You deserve to heal and live a full and meaningful life beyond trauma. Join us!
