Forest Bathing sessions in Devon

What is Forest Bathing?

Forest Bathing, Forest Therapy, or Shinrin Yoku in Japan where it originated, is a way of exploring and connecting deeply with Nature through slowing down and using our senses. During Forest Bathing sessions you will be invited to explore what the woodland has to offer in various ways, using activities that will both raise your awareness of nature, and relax your nervous system.

A bit about me

My name is Anna Schlapp, BA, ACCG, PCC, PCAC, and I am a professional ADHD coach. I have recently trained as a Certified Student Forest Bathing Guide as I came across so many people through my work with neurodivergence who are struggling at work, getting burned out, and finding it harder to focus and ever get to feel relaxed. I wanted to have something to offer these people, to help them reconnect with nature and really feel the benefits that Forest bathing can bring them.

Benefits of Forest Bathing:

Reduced feelings of stress

A general sense of wellbeing

A feeling of relaxation in the body, a calm mind

Improved immunity with increased numbers of natural killer (NK) cells, which fight infection and cancers.

Normalising of blood pressure, or lowering of high blood pressure.

Who can participate in Forest Bathing ?

These sessions are suitable for all adults, however they are ideal for people who are feeling stressed or burnt out, people with neurodivergence or who have sensitive nervous systems, and those who are finding it increasingly difficult to tolerate the noise, hustle and bustle of 21st century life. Forest Bathing sessions are a wonderful antidote to stress and technostress.

Most people will be able to participate in Forest Bathing, unless you have injuries or are likely to have some kinds of mobility difficulties in uneven woodland terrain. If you are in any doubt it is best to either ask your doctor, or you can contact me via the message form at the very bottom of this page to ask any questions you may have or set up a short phone call to find out more.

Where and when are the sessions?

Forest Bathing sessions start in September so if you'd like more information about dates and times as each event is added to the calendar, please add yourself to the mailing list below and leave an email address for me to contact you.

The sessions will be based in beautiful forests and woodlands not far from Exeter, Devon.

Testimonial from an Individual Forest Bathing session participant

"I left my first Forest Bathing session feeling deeply relaxed and re-grounded. Through invitations to connect with the senses, Anna guided me in a gentle and open way in which I felt safe to explore at my own pace and in my own way. Anna's genuine love of nature shone through and reignited my own connections to the natural world, which can be so easily lost in a busy and hectic world. I was surprised by the deeply calming effect of the experience and am already looking forward to more sessions with Anna."
