I learned all this by accident mainly from YouTube videos or from reading lots of books. It’s like discovering secret hacks!
Nobody teaches you this stuff and you have to find out yourself which can be so frustrating if you’ve been doing it ‘wrong’ for a long time and wondering why you aren’t making sales.
Did you know…?
People don't tend to buy the first time they are exposed to your product -
The marketing rule of 7's states that a potential customer must see a message at least 7 times before they'll be provoked to take an action.
I tended to just think if you put your book on Amazon, it 'automatically' sold - it didn't and we failed a lot.
So, by learning and then implementing these new tricks, you give yourself more chance of being discovered and more attempts at being bought.
My first really bad attempt was when we created a workbook called 'Build-a-Book' as you literally create a book step-by-step (brick by brick).
That was the title – please don’t laugh! (Ok, go on then).
PLEASE don’t make the same mistake!!!
I created my own front cover (looking back, it was rubbish) and I uploaded it and waited... and waited.
I then did a search on Amazon for 'Build a Book' to see what came up. (Feel free to look yourself) - NOT EVEN OUR OWN BOOK CAME UP!
What?
Not only that, but the pages were full of construction tools, How to Build Bird Houses etc. and I thought 'My target market won't come here, I have to call my book something different... but what?'
After doing my keyword research that I will go into more detail with you, I settled on 'How to Write a Novel from Scratch' and it's been one of our bestselling books!
The power of keywords!

KEYWORDS:
- You need your book to get discovered by your target market.
- What will they ACTUALLY be typing into Amazon? (Hint: It's definitely not Build-a-Book!)
- Put yourself in your readers' shoes, what would YOU type in to get your book?
- The title is the best indication of what your book is about. Therefore, if someone types a keyword phrase into the search box and your title has that exact phrase in it, then there is a good chance they are looking for your book or a book just like it and guess what? They are more likely to buy!
- You can type in the Amazon search bar of what you think your target market would type in and press 'search' to see what comes up. If books that are in your niche come up, you're onto a winner. But in order to maximise sales, with a bit more effort up front, you can benefit from sales long after you press 'Publish'.

CATEGORIES:
- Great for becoming a bestseller!
- You can add your book to up to 10 categories on Amazon, did you know that?
- Choosing the right Amazon categories for your book is such an important factor in your success. Being smart here can greatly increase your visibility, making your work more likely to be discovered, purchased, and recommended!
- I completely stumbled on this by a guy called Dave Chesson from Publisher Rocket. I thought it would be a really complicated process, but you can simply email Amazon with the extra categories you want your book to appear in (obviously it has to be relevant to your book).
- You can do it by typing in a book in your niche, and underneath, click on the categories and see if your book would be a good fit and that's what you email amazon (along with your book's ASIN).
If you are still not sure, I will show you a very easy way to do this along with the EXACT email I send to Amazon with all the steps in between - that's Video 2!
LOOK INSIDE:
- Increase to over 50% so that your buyers can see the quality of your book rather than take a risk and buy.
- 'Look Inside' the Book allows readers to search through and preview samples of your books. When you publish a book, it's automatically enabled.
- Did you know you can increase it to 50% or more?
- The more you give your readers, the more likely they will buy.
- If you are unknown, they are less likely to give you a chance as you are a 'risk', so by firstly, making an awesome book, and secondly increasing the 'Look Inside' you are showcasing your fantastic book and there will be less 'buying friction' for them.
- You can email Amazon with your book ASIN to increase the 'Look Inside.'

BACK-END KEYWORDS:
- Gives Amazon an indication of where you want your book placed.
- Ensuring that Amazon indexes all keywords relevant to the product. Therefore, these backend search terms are key to improving visibility and driving conversions.

A+ CONTENT:
Having A+ Content brings several advantages. Here is an overview:
- Can also sell other books too especially if you have a series
- Better product description
- Triggering the buyer’s emotional response
- Displaying more quality images
- Showing more text in the description and telling the brand’s story
- People get more comfortable with your product, your brand, and your business. Amazon A+ Content leads to increased visitor numbers, higher conversion rates, more sales, better reviews and a lower return rate as they have gotten lots of info about your product to make an informed decision (the keywords are on point, the book cover is professional, the 'Look Inside' is awesome... ) so when they buy, they are MORE certain than somebody who hasn't done these important steps.

- Fantastic book covers grab attention!
- Builds credibility - shows you know what the market wants.
- More likely to get reviews.
- More likely to get recommendations.
- Judgement - Yes, people really do judge a book by its cover - sorry!
- Look what others are doing in your niche.
- Which colours are they using?
- Look at the quality - professional or self-done?
- I'll show you how to compare with your competitors and where to get your book covers done to a professional standard where you will stand out!
