Resilience

“You may have to fight a battle more than once to win it.”
― Margaret Thatcher

What is Resilience? Why is it important?

Resilience is our innate ability to overcome and manage the often unexpected and uncontrollable circumstances that can happen in our lives. The ability of an individual to overcome these challenges effects not only the outcome of them, but the long-term consequences as well.

Those who lack resilience may instead become overwhelmed by stressful situations.
They may dwell on problems and use:

-Unhealthy coping mechanisms

-Disappointment or failure might drive them to unhealthy, destructive, or even dangerous behaviors

-These individuals are slower to recover from setbacks and may experience more psychological distress as a result.
