I’m Steph Mullen, blogger and coach at Striving for Simple. I’m here to help you get started - or back on track - with your sustainable living journey.

I’ve been helping caring people like you to create a simpler, greener life since 2017. Before that, I was often finding myself the 'go to' person for my friends and family when they had questions about specific aspects of sustainable living, from eco-friendly cleaning products to avoiding palm oil. It's always a pleasure to help - more than that actually - it's my passion!

After years of trying to move past eco-guilt and figure out how the hell I was going to make a difference in the world, I eventually figured out what was most important to me, stopped comparing myself to others and started setting - and achieving - realistic, meaningful goals. I now feel clear about what I‘m working towards and proud about my lifestyle.

I want to help you get there too - but in a matter of weeks, where it took me years.

What to expect


My 12 week programme takes you through the process that I went through to create my greener life, transforming my mindset and lifestyle. I've gone from feeling overwhelmed and guilty, to feeling clear on how I can make a big difference and proud about what I achieve every day.

You will receive 8 one-to-one coaching sessions and unlimited email support.

One of the benefits of private coaching is being able to tailor the programme to you and your needs. Everyone is different and what works for one person may not work for you (and vice versa). This is about figuring out what is right for YOU.

The programme follows my 6 step 'SIMPLE' framework. Each step builds on what you have worked on in previous weeks.

1 - Know your Starting point


Everyone has to start somewhere, and knowing your starting point is vital if you're going to measure your success. The sustainable journey can be long, so you need to be able to recognise your achievements and celebrate them in order to stay motivated.

2 - Figure out what’s most Important


Sustainability covers so many different issues and every aspect of our lives has an environmental impact. We can't do everything (even though we'd like to) - and trying to do so will lead to burnout. As well as considering all the external issues, you need to look inward and figure out what affects you most - what causes you the most fear, anxiety, guilt, anger or stress. 

3 - Write your Mantra


Now you need to boil things down and get focused. What are your core values? What are you most passionate about? Knowing your 'why' - the very essence of what motivates you on your sustainable journey - makes everything easier, from making daily choices to achieving your goals.

4 - Make a Plan


Setting meaningful, achievable goals that are in line with your core values is key to making lifestyle changes that you can sustain. Here we will set your first 3 goals and break them down into the steps you need to take to achieve them.

5 - Learn and adapt


Don't expect to create a sustainable life overnight. It's a journey with ups and downs, like any other. Not everything is likely to run smoothly. It's essential that you stay open to trying new things and flexible with your goals. If you struggle with a particular goal, we will explore any mindset issues that may be holding you back and possible technical reasons it's not working for you. Ultimately, we may decide that it's not a right fit for you (at least right now) and your efforts would be better spent on a different goal - which is totally okay!

6 - Engage others


Once you are well on your way to achieving your goals, it's time to start looking at how we can influence those around us. It can be disheartening when others don't seem to care as much or understand the urgency of the situation. However, you are part of a growing movement of people who are taking action to help prevent a climate crisis and restore the damage we have done to the planet. Here we will explore the ways you can help to grow this movement and affect real change in the world, without derailing your own efforts through frustration and burnout.

At the end of the programme you will be equipped with all the knowledge and tools you need to FLOURISH on your sustainable journey and feel PROUD about everything you have achieved (and continue to achieve).

I offer a free 30-minute introduction call to all new clients. This gives us a chance to make sure that we’re a good fit for one another and to explore what you hope to achieve. It's a chance for you to ask me any questions you have about coaching and how I can help you. It's really informal and nothing to worry about - just think of it as a chat between friends.

To help me prepare for your introduction call, there are a few questions for you to answer during the booking process. This should take 5-10 minutes.

FAQs


When does the programme start?
As soon as you’re ready! Ideally we will book in your first session 1 week after your free introduction call but this can be postponed by a week or two if needed.

How flexible is the timeframe?
We all have different situations and commitments in our lives, so I try to be as flexible as possible. You will see better results if you stick to the 12 week timeframe. However, if other aspects of your life need to take priority for a while, you will be able to 'press pause' once during the programme for up to 3 weeks, at no extra cost. Any further extension may incur a fee.

Do you offer refunds?
I truly believe that if you show up for every coaching session and put in the work, you will be happy with your results. However, if at any point you do not wish to or are unable to complete the programme, I will give you a refund less a proportionate amount for the number of sessions you have received (e.g. if no sessions have taken place you will receive a full refund, where as if you have had 6 sessions you will receive a 50% refund). You must inform me by email at least 48 hours before a scheduled session if you do not want to continue, otherwise that session will be deducted from the amount to be refunded.
