Emily Piazza, MS, RDN, CD is a nutrition therapist and certified doula. She is a mom of 3, wife, and business owner. She started her company, Nourished Journey Nutrition Counseling and Doula Support, PLC, to provide compassionate, supportive, evidenced based care for ALL bodies as they navigate pregnancy, birth, postpartum or general nutrition throughout all seasons of life. The foundation of her work is built on the Health At Every Size (HAES) model with an anti-diet and Intuitive Eating framework that is weight-inclusive and shame-free. The first step of using Your Health Wheel is to make an honest assessment of your current level of satisfaction in each of the eight areas of health. You can use the category labels that Emily provides or make your own.
Next comes reflection. What's going well? Which areas of your life are bringing high levels of satisfaction? Where do you feel best in your physical, mental, emotional, spiritual or social health? What about what isn't going well- where would you like to make changes? In which area would you like to implement a shift? What new behavior or habit might bring you just a 5-10% improvement in your satisfaction?
Your Health Wheel then guides you through suggestions about ways to make small changes in each and every category of the wheel. You design a unique plan- custom to your current season of life and circumstances- for improving your health, wellness and quality of life.
